Santa will lead the parade of elves while a high school marching band accompanies them with holiday tunes. Children ages 9 and under can become elves and join the Winterfest Characters to usher the Holiday Season into Pensacola.

On Christmas Eve, the adventure begins when there is a knock at the front door. Expecting to see Santa, Madeline meets the Rug Merchant who has brought twelve very special rugs. He reminds Madeline that Christmas is the time of miracles, and that these are magic carpets they can fly home on to be with their families for Christmas!

This 5K race offers something for everyone - a fast, flat course for competitive runners, a family atmosphere for parents and kids, team competition for school clubs, and a beautiful, residential course for everyone. All proceeds generated from the race go directly to the YMCA Northeast Branch to support youth programs and provide scholarships for kids who might not otherwise be able to benefit from the opportunities offered through YMCA programs.

The annual parade, which draws over 50,000 people to downtown Pensacola, begins at 5:15 pm. The Christmas Parade includes local bands from every high school in Escambia County, the nationally renowned Blue Angels flight team, groups from around the region, and as far away as Houston and New Orleans.

Ballet Pensacola will enchant audiences with three performances of the Nutcracker at the Saenger Theatre. Each performance will feature the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Peter Rubardt.

In the lovely lighting of Old Christ Church in Historic Pensacola Village, one can sit together with family and friends and ponder the meanings of the season. Music will be provided by The Perdido Brass; Flutist Stephanie Riegle; Harpist Katie Ott; Pianist Tina Buran; and Soprano Sewell Griffith.

Pensacola's Pelican Drop™ Celebration is a new event designed to entertain spectators of all ages with a uniquely gulf-coast experience. While New York has their ball drop and Atlanta has the peach drop, Pensacola is proud to stake claim to the one-and-only Pelican drop.
